Secondary
Middle School
6th-8th Grade
Middle School is an exciting time of life! As students are experiencing rapid growth physically and socially, they are also being challenged to grow academically and spiritually. Students are challenged to apply their knowledge, to ask questions about their discoveries, and to look at every discipline and content area through the lens of Scripture. As students are encouraged to think deeply about a variety of issues in a safe and loving environment, a solid Biblical worldview begins to emerge.
Academics in the Middle School emphasize the building of skills and study habits as well as knowledge of core subject areas. Preparing for the rigors of high school is stressed throughout the Junior High program, and emphasis is placed on the importance of daily, independent effort in accomplishing successful learning.
Classes in Middle School transition from an elementary self-contained model to one which is departmentalized with several teachers, allowing for specialization in the content areas. Core subjects include Bible, history, language arts, mathematics, and science.
High School
9th-12th Grade
Lighthouse Baptist Academy offers a Christ-centered, classical, college-preparatory curriculum. The curriculum is taught from a Biblical worldview and is enriched by a classical emphasis. All that is taught in the classroom, reinforced in athletics, and modeled by the faculty aims to further a student’s apprenticeship to Jesus Christ. The curriculum is designed to further the discipleship of mind and heart.
The curriculum is especially designed to prepare students for college. Students in grades 11-12 are encouraged to take the ACT test at least one time. This test is necessary for admission to colleges, and the student’s score can contribute greatly to both college options and scholarship opportunities.
